His existing site was outdated, poorly organized and hosted on a legacy platform that hadn’t been touched in years. It gave no real sense of who Tom was, what he did or why a business owner should trust him with the sale of their life’s work. He came to Barefoot Build ready for a complete overhaul.

Our Approach:

We started where we always do — with the client’s story. Tom sent us his bio, his process documentation, client testimonials, case studies and a detailed breakdown of his services. From there, we built everything: the site architecture, the copy, the SEO strategy and the visual design.

We chose WordPress with the Avada theme for its flexibility and Tom’s need to manage listings independently over time. The build was hosted on WPX for speed and reliability, with full DNS management handled by Barefoot Build.

What We Built:

Homepage The homepage leads with a direct, conversion-focused headline — “Ready to sell? Let’s get it done right.” — paired with a Raleigh skyline photo and Tom’s professional headshot. We built in a credentials bar featuring his ABI, CRE, BME and MBA designations, a Google review integration pulling live from his Google Business Profile, a blog preview section ready to populate as Tom writes, and a current listings section ready to display active businesses for sale.

What We Do (Services) Rather than a generic services list, we built a page that walks potential clients through the entire journey — from the first Broker Opinion of Value through a 9 to 12 month sales process to closing. Each of Tom’s three service pillars (Broker Opinion of Value, Complete Seller Representation and Sell-Side Consulting) got dedicated card sections with expanded descriptions drawn directly from his process documentation.

About Tom The About page was built to do two things: establish credibility and build trust. We featured Tom’s full professional bio — including his time as CEO, COO and CFO of companies with sales from $20 million to $550 million — alongside his credential logos, photos and real client testimonials. The page closes with two clear CTAs pushing visitors toward services or contact.

Businesses For Sale & Previously Sold We built a portfolio-based listing system so Tom can add and remove businesses independently. The Previously Sold page features seven real closed transactions with anonymized descriptions, plus a section highlighting the range of valuations Tom has completed across industries from auto repair to funeral homes to law firms.

Case Studies Two full case studies with real client testimonials — an auto and tire center sold for $3.8 million in Harnett County and an IT service company sold for $325,000 in the Triangle — give prospective clients a detailed look at what working with Tom actually looks like.

The copy is grounded in Tom’s real process, real transactions and real credentials — and written to speak directly to the North Carolina business owner who’s been thinking about selling but hasn’t made the call yet.

 

SEO Foundation:

The site was built with local SEO in mind from day one. Primary keywords — “North Carolina business broker,” “sell your business North Carolina” and “business valuation North Carolina” — are woven naturally throughout page copy, headings and metadata. Yoast SEO was configured sitewide, internal linking was built into the navigation and footer structure, and the Google Business Profile was connected for review integration.

The Result:

A professional, credible and conversion-ready website that finally matches the quality of Tom’s work. The site launched on WPX hosting following a full DNS migration from the legacy provider, with Barefoot Build managing the transition end to end.
